Melancholia (2011)

Rating:  6.0

Comments:  A slow and methodically delivered doomsday story with some odd dreamlike imagery.  The sleepy pace and overall mood kept me from enjoying it as much as I wanted to, but it was still worth watching even if only for Kirsten Dunst's performance.

Ip Man (2008)

Rating:  8.0

Comments:  The combination of traditional storyline, modern production and superb fight scenes make this a must see for any kung fu fan.  Donnie Yen is perfect for the part and does an excellent job.  The 2nd installment is very good as well, but I enjoyed this one slightly more.

Howl (2010)

Rating: 5.5

Comments: While I found some of the historical and biographical components of the film to be very interesting, I didn't find it offered too much beyond that.

Sherlock Holmes In Pearl Of Death (1944)

Rating:  5.0

Comments:  Despite the great title and how much I have enjoyed other Rathbone/Bruce Holmes movies, I had a hard time getting into this one.  It felt more bland and less memorable than most of the others.

The Other F Word (2011)

Rating: 6.0

Comments: The film does a great job of capturing the real-life side of punk rock musicians and the challenges of balancing their careers, their persona, and parenthood   There is not a ton beyond that, but it is worth watching, especially for music fans.

All Good Things (2010)

Rating:  4.5

Comments:  Despite the decent jobs by Dunst and Gosling, there was very little that stood out about this movie.  I suppose it was somewhat confined to the true story it was portraying, but it still felt like something I had seen several times before.
